Review
"Python is a programming language, but it is also fun to play with. This book recognizes that."—Geek Tech Stuff"Rather than being an introductory text, Vaughan’s book pushes you in interesting directions for solving a diverse set of problems. Most of these “impractical” projects, while themselves being not so useless after all, will have parallels to real life projects." —Greg Laden, Greg Laden's Blog

There are 16 projects. To an intermediate Python developer, I think I would rather take the couple good ones from this book, and not look back.1/3 are programming interview questions that I could get from Hackerrank,Over 100 pages are page-filler space-math junk that is frankly arbitrary in terms of getting better at Python, and being spoon-fed pygame code over and over again.and 1/3 is genuinely interesting exercises (algorithms especially)
The book is what I wanted.
I thought “Impractical Python Projects†was an interesting and creative demonstration of the problem solving capabilities of the popular Python programming language. The exercises are fun and thought provoking. The subject matter was presented in an entertaining and amusing manner. This book improved my programming skills, vocabulary, and galactic knowlege.
I have 10 years+ programming experience and 5 recent years extensively on python. I found this book interesting and useful. It's designed to follow a complete beginners book or class. What is unique about this book is that it uses a project-based approach instead of python.org module tutorials. I found myself rewarded immediately after go through each project instead of traditionally I need to finish entire python training before you can write an application. As I walked through the projects, I learn a lot of useful python modules like pygame, pylint, matplotlib. A lot of those are the libraries used for scientific computing! Python is THE language for data science and quick engineering work. I encourage learning in fun by playing games. Five star!
‘Impractical Python Projects’ is an excellent book containing numerous entertaining and highly engaging programming exercises. Each of the sixteen chapters is dedicated to a different challenge, through which you’re guided with insightful instruction, sample code, and well crafted figures. Practice projects are assigned to most of the chapters, and worked solutions are shared in the appendix. What elevates this book above other self-learning programming guides is the variety of fun and interesting scenarios that provide the context for each project, and which succeed in both maintaining interest and improving the skills of intermediate-level programmers like myself. I recommend this book to anyone who has a basic awareness of programming in Python and wants to advance their capabilities.
If you want to be entertained while you learn how to use a variety of Python modules, this is the book for you. Not all the chapters are funny, but all are interesting and some are a hoot. My favorite is the genetic algorithm, as applied to the breeding of giant rats. The author illustrates how to use the modules with concrete, entertaining examples and includes lines of code. Highly recommended!
All project in this book is quite interesting and well-thought.I am willing to make Japanese version of these projects.
